Bicycle Bank Scheme for Education:

Objective:

The Cycle Bank Scheme initiated by the Sevasadan Community Development Foundation aims to address the issue of girls dropping out of school due to the long distance between their homes and the school. The primary objective is to ensure that girls have access to education by providing them with bicycles, thereby overcoming transportation challenges.

Implementation:

The foundation implemented the Cycle Bank Scheme, wherein they distribute bicycles to girls through schools. The unique aspect of this scheme is the concept of a cycle bank, where the cycle is given to a student, and after completing their education, the same cycle is passed on to another student. This cycle-sharing approach ensures the optimal and sustained use of each bicycle.

This cycle-sharing model ensures that each bicycle is utilized for at least 5 years, maximizing the impact and benefiting the maximum number of girls.

Initiation and Progress: The Cycle Bank Scheme was launched on April 13, 2021, and as of today, more than 100 bicycles have been distributed. The foundation has set a target of distributing 1000 bicycles to further advance the goal of promoting girls' education.

Impact:

The Cycle Bank Scheme has had a positive impact on promoting girls' education by addressing the transportation challenges they face. By providing bicycles and adopting a cycle-sharing model, the foundation ensures the continuous use of each cycle, making education accessible to more girls over an extended period. This initiative reflects a commitment to breaking barriers and upholding the right to education for all girls in the community.
