Objective:

Sevasadan Foundation, in its commitment to the education and well-being of girls, has organized gatherings specifically for teenage girls in various villages such as Sangliwadi, Kumthe, Dhavali, etc. The objective is to address misconceptions and superstitions surrounding menstruation, reduce educational losses during that period, and tackle the various challenges faced by teenage girls in rural areas.

Implementation:

The foundation, in collaboration with Gram Panchayats, has initiated gatherings for teenage girls to provide them with essential information, guidance, and support. These gatherings aim to break stereotypes, address discrimination, and focus on the holistic development of girls during a crucial period of physical, mental, social, and emotional changes.

Activities:

Menstruation Education: The gatherings address misconceptions and superstitions related to menstruation. Efforts are made to dispel myths and provide accurate information to prevent girls from missing school during their menstrual periods.

Combatting Discrimination: Recognizing the prevalent discrimination between boys and girls in rural areas, the foundation strives to challenge these norms and promote equal opportunities for girls.

Holistic Development: The foundation addresses various aspects of teenage girls' lives, including diet, personal freedom, personal hygiene, and emotional support. The goal is to provide a supportive environment for the girls' overall well-being.

Guidance for Careers: Interactions during the gatherings involve guidance on career paths, competitions to showcase talents, and discussions about health and well-being.

Educational Support: Information is shared regarding physical, mental, emotional, and social changes that occur during adolescence. Tips are provided to help girls focus on their studies.

Impact:

The gatherings for teenage girls organized by the Sevasadan Foundation have positively impacted approximately 5000 girls. By addressing the challenges related to menstruation, combating discrimination, and providing guidance for holistic development, the foundation contributes to empowering teenage girls in rural areas. This initiative reflects a commitment to breaking barriers and promoting the well-being and education of girls during a crucial phase of their lives.
